Resist Fusing (melting) during fault. Be Machanicaly Rugged to prevent physical damage. Has low resistance to prevent dangerous potentials. |

Have ampacity no less than conductor. Must not deteriorate with age. Must be able to wistand repeated faults. |

Must be of proper size, quantity meterial to carry falut currents. |
| Rod to Soil
Rod must be of sufficent quality, spacing and depth. Rod must Resist corrosion |
| Soil
Varies with depth, moisture, temperature and type of soil. |
