Grounding Solutions

The Grounding Chain :

A grounding system is like a chain. Proper design and implementation of the system will ensure that there are no weak links in the grounding chain between the fault and its dissipation into the ground.

Requirements :

Conductor
Resist Fusing (melting) during fault. Be Machanicaly Rugged to prevent physical damage. Has low resistance to prevent dangerous potentials.
Connector
Have ampacity no less than conductor. Must not deteriorate with age. Must be able to wistand repeated faults.
Ground Rod
Must be of proper size, quantity meterial to carry falut currents.
Rod to Soil
Rod must be of sufficent quality, spacing and depth. Rod must Resist corrosion
Soil
Varies with depth, moisture, temperature and type of soil.
